Bruges, Belgium

After our exciting day in Luxembourg, then checking out the night life in Brussels, we headed off to Bruges. Funny story, we didn't set an alarm clock because Rylie always wakes Drew up by 9am on the weekends, this time, she didn't even bother to wake us up. I woke us up because I had to pee! Guess we wore her out the day before.

After eating our sandwiches (we picked up groceries before heading to our hotel, it's a great idea if you wanna save some money, especially if your hotel doesn't have free breakfast) we grabbed our backpacks and Rylie of course and headed off to Bruges.

Luckily Bruges is only a 1.5 h drive away. We've been planning this trip for a while and I'm a big fan of Rick Steves, in his book he suggests parking at the main bus station and catch the free Bus into the city. The best thing about it is that for 24 hours it's only 3.10 euros to park. Finding parking may be the tricky part. I think a lot of people know the secret, but we've we were lucky enough to catch someone in the front row who was leaving.

After parking, we followed the crowd of people down, then I saw a bus that saw a bus that said "Centrum". We had to show our parking ticket to a cashier and he gave us a bus ticket and we hopped on a bus to the center of town.

I was a little afraid that we weren't going to be able to bring Rylie on board, but we walked right on and no one even batted an eyelash! I love that about Europe, it's not really a "thing" in the sates. I'm pretty sure they're pet haters. Lol

We got off the bus at the beginning of the city center. We stopped off at the Saint Salvator Cathedral.(Too bad the Salvator Brothers from the Vampire diaries aren't from here!) It was a pretty impressive church, but it wasn't what we came to Bruges to see.

Drew had done some research on the city and found out that their was a chocolate museum! It was the furthest from everything so we headed in that direction. On the way we walked through the city center and go to see the Belfry of Bruges, it is a medieval bell tower that is a famous landmark in the center of town, horse drawn carriages, even run through the town. You can climb to the top of the tower, it's only 366 steps. We didn't climb. Luckily Drew didn't know that you could climb it, otherwise we would have climbed it.

We finally found the chocolate museum, after making a few stops along the way to look at souvenir shops, I had no interest in checking out the chocolate museum. Not to mention... we had Rylie. I had my fill in Cologne, so after taking some pictures in front of the shop, we headed off to find the Basilica of the Holy Blood.

The church is famous for it's claim that they have a cloth that contained Christ's blood! How cools is that?

Next the the Basilica, there was a little stand that was selling the best smelling waffles, of course we had to stop and have one!

The workers were so awesome, they even gave Rylie her very own waffle and ice cream. She loved it of course.

We headed back to the center of town and found chocolate center. I think I drooled the whole time. They had some interesting "Adult" chocolates. Drew enjoyed them.
